Francis Lewis High School Model UN - Developing Leaders of Tomorrow

Model United Nations is simulated by students who represent nations to negotiate resolutions that will settle disputes and address problems facing the international community today. When a conference is opened, students conduct the same work as actual UN delegates and, for the duration of the conference serves as the United Nations. At state, national, international level and UN sponsored Model UN conferences, conference staff are attuned to the ideas that student delegates offer to solve the world's problems and share them with UN agencies and organizations. The overall goal of the club is to solve specific problems of the world within three days.

The Francis Lewis Model UN club engages in an authentic simulation of the United Nations system by learning about the UN system, the skills of debate, compromise, conflict resolution and negotiation. Model UN team members have fun learning about the workings of world diplomacy through the lens of current events. Model UN team members will attend numerous conferences that will provide valuable experiences for solving issues of the world. At Model UN conferences, delegates will debate against other countries, while promoting peaceful resolutions to all problems.
